Welcome to the Hereford College of Arts Workshop Blog. The workshops, run by specialist Technical Demonstrators, are a successful and integral part of the Art College. On the blog, you'll be able to see examples of work, images of the workshops in action and, from time to time, demonstrations of practical techniques.

FROM RETRO TO FUTURISTIC
The linocut prints shown here were produced in the Printmaking Workshop by Becky and Pearl who are students on the Portfolio Course. Becky's landscape is influenced by 1950's railway posters. Pearl's prints are of a more experimental nature and involve embossing her lino block onto layers of tinfoil and also utilises chine collee.

Enamelling Masterclass with Jessica Turrell
Today we were extremely lucky to welcome world-class jeweller and enamelist Jessica Turrell into the Small Metals workshop.
She delivered a masterclass to a group of Jewellery and CAA students that was mind blowing; showing us techniques and processes that have changed the way alot of us perceive enamel and its application.
Jessica is highly trained in traditional techniques but she can also work in a very spontaneous and non-traditional way using tricks that seem to revolutionize the process.
I have a feeling enamelling will become more popular within the workshop than ever before...I can't wait!
