Rubber stamped enamel

Over the past 12 months in Small Metals alot of enamelling samples have emerged...still using the same powders and processes but worlds away from 'traditional' enamelling.
We are calling it 'image transfer with enamel' and the above image shows some of the results.
Using the simplest of processes such as stencilling and using water-based pens to 'glue' the enamel onto the metal. The most exciting samples (faces in centre of the image) have been produced with laser cut rubber stamps which means that absolutely any image/photo/design can be turned into a stamp and used to apply enamel to metal...this could become very popular over the coming year...

Mike Gell
There was a good turn out in Small Metals last week when Mike came in to give his anual chat about 'Alloy' which is a Herefordshire based group of jewellers that he co-founded. Alloy has a graduate placement scheme which a number of HCA students have and still are benefiting from.
To find out more about Alloy visit the website at www.alloyjewellers.co.uk

NEW FACES IN THE PRINT ROOM

Here is a selection of prints produced by two FE students. The dramatic linocut prints of people in blindfolds were created by Corinne Benniman (Foundation) and the rather fine drypoint prints were created by Owen Rose (ED1).

JACK'S DONE IT!

Jack Phillips ED2 has worked extremely hard to complete this large format 14 colour lithograph/stencil and card print in the manner of Andy Warhol. Well done Jack!
The casual observer would not realise just how complex and dificult a print like this is to produce as there are so many opportunities for it to go wrong. Concentration is the key.
